Floor Rugs Are a Home Necessity

I'm sure this story, or something quite similar, has happened to you before. It's a big night; you're going out to a happening place with someone special. You've picked the perfect dress, set your hair elegantly, put on make up that made you glow even prettier, and stepped on that shoes that even Cinderella would envy. Just as you were about to head downstairs to meet him, you took a quick glance of yourself at the mirror and you noticed something missing. That missing something could be an accessory that will complete your look. This can happen when buying houses, as well. Everything that you thought your home needs, you've bought them, yet something is still missing. Usually, the right floor rugs are just what our homes need.

The use of rugs has been recorded since the earliest days of our ancestors. They have been in use since the dawn of civilization itself. Archeologists found remnants of crudely woven reed rugs that early men were using. As their knowledge expands, they were able to discover other materials that ca be made into rugs, too. Animal hides were excellent rugs, too. A Russian archeologist was responsible for discovering the oldest surviving floor rug. It was found accidentally while they were excavating an ancient burial site in 1949. The carpet, known as "Pazyryk", dates back to the 5th century BC. It also drew a lot of attention because of its exceptional design.

Some buyers think that if you need floor rugs, you can simply go out and buy one. These people should know that there are far better uses for floor rugs than the way they thought they could be used. Floor rugs are excellent protection for hardwood floors, tiles, linoleum, and other delicate flooring. Floor rugs can be the center of attraction of the whole room, but the rugs have to have excellent details and design.

You can use your floor rugs longer if you take care of them correctly. Rugs placed on the floor are magnet to stains and dirt. You can't just sweep dirt off your rugs, you have to vacuum them daily. Be careful of liquids that can cause stains on your rugs if they're accidentally spilled. There are commercial cleaning agents that can be bought on the market. White vinegar mixed with cold water is said to be an effective cleaning agent. Needless to say, you also need an absorbent clean cloth along with this mixture to clean stains. Find other uses of everyday household items, like toothbrushes. If you rub the cloth to remove the stain, it will only spread the dirt and stains more.

Floor rugs are often times under rated, but in reality, they are very important in making today's homes look better. Designers will often look to place rugs to quickly but effectively liven up a dull area. They are made in different styles, colors, materials, patterns or designs, and prices. Some people even treat floor rugs as investment, like buying those expensive oil paintings of the masters. I wouldn't blame you, though, if you may think of draping your beautiful rugs on your shoulders to complete you look for tonight.
